Nissan builds mind-driven GTR-X 1-seat concept car
Nissan has created a full-scale model of the futuristic GTR-X supercar, which is somewhere between a self-driving car and a motorcycle driven by the power of the pilot’s mind..
The Japanese carmaker decided to bring a design project to life. The created three-meter X-shaped concept has 4 wheels and is able to transport only one person, but in a completely unusual way.
As conceived by the author, while driving, the pilot should lie on body GTR-X belly down to ensure optimal aerodynamic performance. At the same time, he must be wearing a special suit, a spherical virtual reality helmet with external cameras, which uses the brain-computer interface to read thoughts and allows you to navigate the road by the incoming video stream.
The final piece of equipment is a backpack, which processes all the information and serves as a bridge between the pilot and the machine, ensuring their interaction.
While this concept will require a number of technological breakthroughs, including highly efficient neuromorphic interfaces, autonomous steering systems and 360-degree wheels, Nissan designers became interested in the idea of a mental connection between the pilot and the vehicle. In recognition of the young intern’s imagination, they produced a full-scale model.
Earlier, we also reported on a prototype of the equally futuristic Mercedes-Benz VISION AVTR electric car. with a joystick instead of a steering wheel.
